Jelenetfotó 3.3Malfatano in southern Sardinia, along a coastal stretch of wild and unspoilt beauty, there is to be found the rather well known and much visited beach of Tuerredda, noted on the main tourist guides. A few hundred yards from the beach one comes across the first furriadroxus (from the verb furriài: retreat, inhabit), the typical local isolated houses, belonging to the agglomeration of Malfatano. The people who still live in the furriadroxus, all men, bachelors with an average age of more than sixty, are representative of the last reverberation of a community: their daily lives passed in activities tied to stock rearing and subsistence agriculture, conducted with mutual help, but also characterised by solitariness and marginalisation. The film recounts the microcosm of lives of these inhabitants, focusing on several moments of their culture and lifestyle, exactly during the month of August, when the contrast with the mass of tourists who flood the nearby beach of Tuerredda, is particularly accentuated.
