Ragazzi Rossella

Rossella Ragazzi is an Italian visual anthropologist and filmmaker born in 1965 in Roma. She graduated at the National Film School in Italy in 1987 and then continued her studies in social sciences and art sciences in France and Ireland. She holds a PhD in Media and Anthropology and she is currently post doc researcher at the university of Tromsø Museum, Department of Cultural Sciences. She was for several years Senior Lecturer and Anthropological Film Supervisor at the department of Visual Cultural Studies in the same university. She is the director of more than 10 documentaries in which she is often editor and cinematographer too. Among her recent anthropological documentaries: “La Mémoire Dure” (Special Prize of the Jury, Nuoro Film Festival 2000), “At Home in the World” and “Walking on Uneven Paths”. She publishes in the field of Visual Anthropology, often accompanying her texts by DVDs with filmic excerpts. Her last article is a chapter in “Projecting Migration. Transcultural Media Practice” edited by Grossman and O’Brien, Wallflower Press 2007.
