Áine O’Brien is Director of the Centre for Transcultural Research and Media Practice, Dublin Institute of Technology, where she conducts migration research through the medium of documentary film. She has co-directed a performative documentary film (Silent Song, 2000) on Kurdish lyrical protest in Europe and is currently completing with Alan Grossman, Between Here and There, a film about domestic workers in the global care chain, the increasing politicisation of female migrant workers and the role of labour activism within local and global migration circuits.
