Description of the content
A documentary about the lives of people disabled by accident, on coexistence and tolerance. „this is damnation, not relation” Rehab: cripples all around, everyone is lying on beds, stench of shit and sacks soaked with urine everywhere, the safe haven of the emergency ward is gone forever! A doctor comes and states the facts without any examination: “You are not going to walk any more, sir, better forget about it. You’ve got to reform your life, and you’ll possibly divorce your wife sooner or later. How can anybody cope? The film is about the life of those who were forced into wheelchairs by accidents told through the eyes of two young victims, Zsolt and Encsi. About 200, mostly young people, loose their ability to move per year. Though the two main characters the documentary presents their life and possible choices for them from post-operation to the returning home after months of rehab. Meanwhile, it also gives a broad picture of the Hungarian rehab system and the Austrian one though two main institutions, ORI in Budapest and XXX near Vienna. The director Zoltán Vincze also suffered an accident 4 years ago, and although the film is not about him, his vision and understanding of the situations depicted helps the audience to better understand those who are bound to live their lives differently presenting the struggle for life and the daily reality of life redefined to its basics and how one can cope with everything changed.
