Description of the content
In heart of Nicaragua, deep in the jungle, Yamileth Chavarria has founded a citizens’ radio station with a unique mission. A self-styled “talkative witch”, she goes on the air daily to chattily denounce the local men who abuse their wives and children. In doing so, the radio host hopes to take a stand against the failure of the judicial authorities too. Yamileth herself has often been threatened, but refuses to be intimidated. As she puts it: “If they have to shoot me down in front of the microphone, everyone will hear”.
