www.ateliersvaran.com Created 1981, following a demand, in 1978, from New Republic of Mozambique to Jean ROUCH, to train in the country young documentary cinematographers in order to film the country mutations, a reality they know. Ateliers VARAN are not a school in an academic sense. The principle is teaching by pratice. For each student everything is connected to the making of film in “real size”. It is also a freedom space out of the market constraints. Students are invited to go through a true cinematographical experience and to look for their own way of language. Making his film each student is initiated to film writing,, shooting, sound recording, and editing. Directing accelerates, and registers the training durably.
